According to some recent surveys and reports, Kolkata city is slipping slowly to the hands of insomnia just like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. More than three-quarter of working people across the country are infringing the standard and medically recommended sleep hours.
The newly emerged working class as a result of IT and media boom are more vulnerable to this medical condition. As a result of this more and more specialized stress and sleep treatment clinics are showing their presence in different part of the city. Experts says that Kolkata is not yet matured enough to welcome the new lifestyle and work culture.
According to the medical survey report published by Assocham agency the loss of sleep is always accompanied with some other major problems such as increased absenteeism and performance deterioration. The survey reports also reveals different concerns that are highly associated with sleep deprivation. Unsurprisingly, most doctors in Kolkata agree with this report. Doctors also warn that inadequate sleep could affect the level of performance of a young worker and this indeed leads to memory loss, irritability and anxiety.
Other than stress and anxiety, medical practitioners also consider stimulants such as coffee, tea and alcohol as an antagonist to sleep problems. Most people take these stimulants as a mean to reduce stress and anxiety. However, these stimulants are quite capable to upset your body working condition. In order to conclude, if you have been experiencing problems with sleep more than 3-4 weeks, then it is the right moment to consult with a general medical practitioner.
