The Legendary Funny Man Leslie Nielsen Is No More

It is really sad news that the legendary comic actor Leslie Nielsen is no more. Suffering from complications of pneumonia, Leslie Nielsen died at 5.34 PM in a hospital which is close to his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was surrounded by his wife and family friends when the end came. He was 84 years old at the time of death.Leslie Nielson shot into fame by playing comedy characters in the popular spoofs named “Airplane!” and “The Naked Gun”. This Canadian born actor became a regular face during the early days of television when he used to act in dramas like Goodyear Playhouse. Leslie Nielson also played the character of the ship captain in the 1956 science fiction movie Forbidden Planet.

His profile as an actor changed dramatically when he was casted in the role of a doctor flying aboard an endangered jetliner in the disaster movie parody “Airplane”. Leslie Nielsen’s famous delivery line “I am serious – and do not call me Shirley” became quite famous and helped him a lot to launch his second career.

The world of entertainment will never forget this evergreen comedy character. May his soul rest in peace.
