Master of Racketeering Deserves No Mercy

The Former Judge of Luzerne County (Pennsylvania) named Mark Ciavarella, has been found guilty according to a Federal Court verdict. He has been accused for racketeering for taking a $1 million bribe from the builder of a prison for juveniles and that is expected to be a non-profitable venture.

Ciavarella had left the bench two years before as he and another judge, Michael Conahan, were charged for giving imprisonment to the youngsters telling that they were involved in the building.  Prosecutors suspected that Conahan, who pleaded guilty to racketeering previous year, and Ciavarella accepted kickback from the private company that constructed and sustained the new youth imprisonment facility.

Ciavarella, who was in charge of juvenile court, sent the kids to juvenile custody for crimes like possession of drug paraphernalia, theft of a jar of nutmeg and posting web page spoofs about an assistant principal (3 months of hard time).  Some of those sentenced were to juveniles as young as 10 years old.

Ciavarella gave a laughing excuse to the jury at the time of hearing. He admitted that he has taken the money from the builders but his mistake was that he has not shown the money in his TAX returns. The master of this racketeering is 61 years old and he is expected to get 12 years sentence. It seems the crime will eat into 12 years of his golden retired life.

People are really feeling bad for the youth whose life change for ever because of the wrong sentences given by this racketeering master to the young children of the town. Jesus, he deserves no mercy.
