Jobless In The US Preferring Unpaid Internship

As the US economy is still struggling to be back on the wheels, many job seekers are preferring to work for free in many companies. Take the instance of Jacob, a resident of Malibu. He gets up from bed at 7 am in the morning and rushes towards his office.

At the end of the day, he comes back home with huge files of unfinished work which he plans to complete at home. Everything supposed to be the same, except the fact that he does not bring any paycheck at the end of the month. Though there is no vacancy in his office but still he feels that on some day, he may be hired if there is any opening. As the number of unemployed in America crosses 14 million, many job less are going for work without any pay.

These unpaid working staffs have got no sadness in their mind as they feel that they are lucky to be at least in the workplace. If they sit at home idle, their skills may get worsened with time.

Though the exact numbers of staffs willing to work free in the entire economy are not available, but a casual look at the job sites show that many jobless have posted their desire to work for free. The people who are mostly interested in working free include bakers, accountants, nurses and waitresses.

The corporate are not punishable because the law of minimum wages is not applicable to the workers who are working free of cost. But the Labor Department, when contacted by news365today.com, said that these free workers must get something for their time and effort.

But the dream of getting the job at the same place where one is working free as intern does not always become true. Many people complain that after working for 360 or 400 hours in an office, they were told that the door is closed for them.

Various government agencies in California are openly saying that they will have to take workers willing to work free as they have severe budget constraints.
