Recently it has been reported from closed sources that Apple Inc has been having discussions with a number of reputed and famous Cable operators of United States about allowing consumers to make use of an Apple gadget as the set-top box and see live television plus other related contents.

These talks prove the biggest ambition of Apple since years to infiltrate the living-room of commoners. It seems that Apple still haven’t reached to any form of conclusion in terms of pacts with any of those cable operators. It since that these operators are not reluctant to allow Apple to establish a toehold in this trade of commerce.

Another obstacle in Apple’s hand is that it has to convince a significant count of users to purchase a coordinating set-top box which could worth hundreds of bucks rather than simply renting one from their cable operator at merely $10 to $15. Moreover, Electronics makers like Samsung Electronics-Co and TiVo Inc are already selling their own Set-top boxes in the market without having Major impact in the market.

The talks which Apple is having illustrates the fact that the company is pursuing a radical way for expanding in the television market rather then what it had planned in the past (teaming-up with the existing providers and license them the content).
